About

The Cancer Support Group provides the opportunity to discuss issues related to cancer and its treatment. Issues may include reassessing values and lifestyle, discussing the reactions of family and friends, and gaining practical information about community resources. Group members will be able to explore and share their thoughts and feelings while giving and receiving support.

The Cancer Support Group is open to cancer patients, adult family members and friends. Family members/friends do not need to be accompanied by the person with the cancer diagnosis. The group is a safe place where thoughts, feelings and concerns about cancer are discussed.

This group has been meeting for almost 20 years and is a combination of both long term cancer survivors and the newly diagnosed.  The long term members have all come to the group as newly diagnosed, and found that the group was extremely helpful and supportive.  The long term survivors provided proof that one can get through the very difficult journey that is cancer.  These group members continue to attend for many years after the end of active treatment because they want to provide the same inspiration and support to the newly diagnosed that helped them so much

The group meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month in the Fairmeadow room at the Mitchell Park Library in Palo Alto.
